This book left me in tears every few pages! I found MYSELF in almost every few chapters. I began reading it out of curiosity but was met with powerful encounters with God. I believe that I’ve learned to love deeper, and to be a better momma and Christian after reading this book. My most powerful lesson has been to love every person I encounter unconditionally and to forgive quickly. Thank you for the genuine vulnerability you poured into this book! Thank you for writing it. In the midst of a dark spiritual season, this book has redirected me to the feet of Jesus (right back where I belong).

The story begins with the Hanna family experiencing a almost storybook childhood in NY. And then things change. And your heart breaks for John and Caroline and the rest of the family as death and drug addiction enter their lives. But as the title suggests, the beginning of hope and change starts when John reaches the end of his rope. This is a beautiful story of the healing power of Christ when we allow Him into our lives. Also, John is an amazing example of how we should reach out to others with Christ's love as he returns to places most wouldn't go. What surprised me about this book was how the story didn't end there. The author opens up about her own struggles and pain and it amazed me how she reached out to the Lord and the Lord met her there and continues to do so. This book is so rich with love and redemption in a raw and real state - a real testimony to God's love for us.

This book will captivate you from start to finish. A super easy read I didn't want to put down! It gives the reader a birds eye view to see the greatness of God, unconditional love, grace and mercy. You truly feel it throughout the entire book. It is a book that will make you want to know the amazing people in the story. (Especially her father and brother) What a journey it was with many highs and lows, trials and tribulations that all led up to a remarkable testimony and story of recovery, restoration and redemption. I encourage you to get a copy of this book full of hope, grab a cup of coffee, a box of tissues (for happy & sad tears), settle into a comfy place....because once you begin to read it...you won't want to put it down!

Awesome book. I didn’t want to stop reading! It’s very well-written and tells the amazing story of John Hanna and his harrowing struggle with addiction. His redemption is truly inspiring. It’s incredible what an impact he had on so many. But the book doesn’t end there. It also tells the powerful story of Caroline Guirgis and her family. With unflinching honesty, she shares their struggles and challenges, and their ultimate victory through Jesus Christ. The Beginning Starts at the End is a rare book in its honest, authentic revelation of deep struggles and humbling circumstances. It is truly refreshing. In a world of keeping up with the Jones’s and only showing Instagram-worthy pictures of our lives, this book gives the readers permission to admit their own problems and seek help and forgiveness from the Lord. Beautiful.

I was probably one of the last, if not the last, person to see John before his accident. Our offices were next to each other and during the short time that we served together on staff we had built a strong friendship. “The Beginning Starts at the End” isn’t a book about tragedy but triumph. It’s a book not as much about suffering as it is about salvation. And not as much about addiction as it is about adoration. Not about a man but about a man who “finally got it” and adored Christ personally which enabled him to conquer his demons and become the man God always intended for him to be. I hope you are inspired by reading it as much as I did.

This is a book that shows the power of GOD to transform a life of someone just like you and me. It's the story of the gospel in action as Caroline details the challenges that ultimately brought her and her brother into a fuller relationship with HIM. I marveled at each challenge and suffering moment and how God used those. I even smiled at some of the scenes because they reminded of the family in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding series. Authentic, personal, and heart-felt. You'll fall in love with GOD's transforming grace when you read this!

Caroline Hanna Guirguis does an amazing job candidly sharing how God uses her hardships and tribulations and turns them into a positive and life altering encounter with Him! This book is definitely a page turner. Beautifully written, you feel as if you are right there experiencing every moment with Caroline. She also shares how her brother overcame his addiction, became a pastor and brought so many people to God! This book is a must read! It is a ray of light in our dark world!

Caroline did a fabulous job of telling John's story of his battle with addiction as well as communicating the impact of John's story on those around him. I love how the book addresses the intensity of addiction and the trauma it leaves in its wake. But the beauty of healing and redemption through the power of God in Jesus Christ is the greater story. The book will inspire anyone that is struggling that God is real, that He is love, and that He is more than able to heal a life.
